To Geed or Not to Geed? That is the Question ...

Oh we've been avoiding this question forever because everyone has an opinion on tie dye. Some hate it, some love it and some could simply care less. We also have a nagging feeling that our regular readers fall on the "HATE IT" side of the fence, and we simply have to disagree. But, since a friend who interns in Athletics told us that tonight is the most important game of the season, we're going to self sacrifice here.

Tie Dye isn't pretty or fashionable. We're entirely aware that it's the ugliest combination of our school colors. Actually it's not even really our school colors - it's black and bleed your eyes out gold. No one looks good it in it - whether your tan, pale or in between.

BUT, looking good is not the point of tie dye. You are supposed to make the opponents' eyes literally bleed from the pain of looking at our section. We are the intimidation factor in the Joel. So let's step it up and sacrifice our fashion conscious attitudes tonight when the Deacs take on Iowa at 7pm.

So here is Chic Deac's final verdict on tie dye: Go ahead, Wake Forest. Put your frat pastels aside for one hot second and wear something ugly. Surely, your awesome, fratty reputation will be able to withstand the momentary geedness.

For Your Friend Who Reminds You of ...

You know when you're watching a movie or tv show and the person on the screen reminds you exactly of your BFF? Well we've got the gifts that will help you find something wonderful for your girlfriends this holiday season.

For Elizabeth Bennett
On Etsy, these beautiful vintage necklaces hold the perfume of the wearer for a little daytime dab or are the perfect holder for a little note to remind them of how much you appreciate your friendship. This feels very Jane Austen if you ask us, so maybe give this to the girl who can't stop watching Pride & Prejudice.

For Charlotte York
We always loved the Carrie necklace on Sex and the City, but that's something only a Carrie could pull off. If you have a friend who is more of a Charlotte, then think about getting her this gorgeous monogrammed Max & Chloe necklace.

For Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian has a sweet personality, but a style with a slight edge. Perhaps a friend like her would love a black satchel with chain straps, like this one from Nine West.

For Blair Waldorf (or one of her minions)
Blair's look would be incomplete without the sophisticated headbands she always manages to pull off. For your prim and proper friend (maybe with a mean streak) we recommend thisheadband from Etsy. Just tell her it came from Paris, or else.

The Gift to Give Yourself ...

To save you from all of the holiday madness - enjoy this free holiday playlist from Target.

For Dad

Dad is easy to please. He's not high maintenance and anything related to Wake Forest will make him happy (because he went here or just because you go here, either way).

We like this logo tie because it's got the WF logo without being overwhelming - subtle and classy, just like your dad.

If there is any one item that defines the style of a dad - it's got to be a vest. Who wears vests besides Dads? Check out this Cutter & Buck one from the Deacon Shop.

If your Dad is a historian - give him the recently published History of Wake Forest University: Vol. V as a Christmas gift. He'll love to read more about the background on this great institution. Plus, it's written by Provost Emeritus Ed Wilson (yes, the guy who Shorty's named the Mr. Wake Forest burger after) so he's bound to love it! Check it out here.

A simple WF logo belt, like this one, is always a good idea for Dad. He'll love wearing it to games throughout the year.
If Dad is looking for something cool for his office, maybe you should consider getting him a replica Wake Forest football helmet. This will be a conversation piece and another opportunity for him to bring you up to all of his visitors! Check it out here

Or perhaps you could get him one of these awesome panoramic shots of BB&T field or the Joel. Pick his favorite sport, or if you're feeling generous, get both!

Holiday Gift Guide

We're baaaacccck! Chic Deac took an extended break to spend some time with her family over the holidays, but we are back in full force. We'll be displaying gifts galore over the next two weeks for all of the special people in your life (and we may fit in an occasional exam chic feature, please feel free to send in the heinous outfit/UGG configurations you see girls wearing in ZSR).

Get ready cause you are about to be bombarded with some great gift ideas!

Drawstring Cardigan

This is a really cute long cardigan. We like how you can dress it up or wear it with leggings in ZSR during exams.

Thursday's at Rebecca & Co.

Rebecca & Co. are having their annual food drive this week at the store! They have partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC again to collect canned food items for the hungry in our community.

Bring 3 or more cans and receive 25% off ONE regular priced item (sale items excluded) from Monday, November 15-Saturday, November 20. This is the 14th year and they hope Chic Deac readers will participate with the other customers to make this our most successful year. The store's goal is to completely fill all 3 of our large boxes and they are looking forward to your help!

P.S. - The Winston store is beating the Greensboro store at the moment. Don't let the lead slip!

Wrap Me Up

We've posted about this chic black sweater wrap dress before, but it's time to do it again because it's on sale for less than $30

Pair it with some cute pumps for interviews or at the office, or boots for a cute look in class.

Soapbox

This blog was never intended to be a soapbox, but there are two issues at hand which we at Chic Deac feel the need to (briefly) address:

1. Senior Fifth
It's never chic to be blackout, puking in the tailgate lot while trying to drunk dial your ex-boyfriend to see if he made it to his tailgate. Keep it classy, seniors.

2. We're Not Good
Football last won a game against Duke. Basketball lost to Stetson (who??) on Friday night. We're aware that our major teams are not playing well. This is not the time to give up wearing your black and gold or attending games.

One of my friends on the football team once told me that the saddest part of a losing game isn't the actual loss. It's heading over to the student section to sing the alma mater with your peers and seeing that no one cared enough to stay for the end. So try showing your support because they're working hard. We're terrible fans if we can only be there to celebrate the wins. Support our teams and coaches.

Stepping off the soapbox now ...

That Jo!

She always finds something lovely. Check out this dress that she is giving away to a lucky reader today! With some dangly gold earrings, you'd be a chic fashion goddess.

Buy This, Not That

Looking at the J.Crew magazine lately thinking, "I want you, but I can't have you" is no fun. We love their taffeta bow monde dress and have been searching for a cheaper substitute. We think we've found it! It's not strapless, but it really is a beautiful alternative and no one will ever know it's from Forever 21. In the same color family and sporting an awesome bow, you're bound to get compliments in either of these dresses. The J.Crew dress retails for $100 and the Forever 21 version is just $33.

Happy Friday, chic ones!

Chic ones, you must stop by Rebecca & Co. on Reynolda Road if you are interested in getting yourself a fab pair of boots this fall. The over the knee Intyre boots are 20% off for Chic Deac readers through next Thursday. You don't want to miss out on this discount. Wake Forest Travel Mug and Coozie

This is a really cute pattern that allows you to stylishly wear the famous WF logo. The coozie is cute, but we really love the travel mug. Seems like a good stocking stuffer if you ask me!

Tailored with a Twist

We are loving this tailored dress with a front twist. It's got a great clean cut which will flatter your shape. It's adult enough for an interview and cute enough for cocktails. Best of all, it's priced at $65 and made even cheaper for you, because Chic Deac is a sale finding expert. Type in the code "PSWLOVESASOS" (courtesy of People Style Watch) to get 20% off of the already low price on this gorgeous dress.

Add a skinny black patent belt, purse and voila - you're a Chic Deac! Happy shopping, chic ones!

A Bright Monday Morning

Hopefully this bright and chic yellow blouse will brighten up your Monday morning blues. The Ikebana blouse has a gorgeous print and will surely stand out in any crowd. We especially love the small beaded detail along the smocked waist line. Check it out here for $80.

Tidbits for Your Weekend ...

Make your own Pollock masterpiece ...

A delicious new spot in town to visit ...

For those people in your life who can't help themselves ...

What can I say? I like wedding photography blogs ...

Oh, Kate, you make me happy ...

Inspiring? Or a painful reminder of your inadequacies? You choose ...

Five days, five days, five days!

Stay Warm and Beat BC

The season, believe it or not, is actually redeemable. If the Deacs get a win on Saturday, they can still work hard towards a bowl game. Is it far off? Absolutely. Should we be there, even in the cold, to help see them through a tough season? Absolutely.

It's looking like tomorrow's high is 50 degrees. That isn't very high. So how do you dress for a chilly afternoon game and tailgate? It's easy. Put on some cute jeans, your favorite pair of boots, a black sweater and one of these gorgeous outerwear pieces. Don't forget the sunglasses. They add a touch of fabulous!

First up is a $120 coat from Steve Madden's line for Macy's. This is a very sweet look and we love the toggle buttons.

Second in our list of stylish assortment of coats is this ruffled piece from Old Navy. All outerwear is 50% off at Old Navy this week only (or so the manikins told me in the 15050984 commercials they play a day).

Anthro, as always, can be counted on to have some gorgeous old gold pieces. We love the details around the waist on this "Alice in Autumn" sweatercoat. You might need an extra layer to keep you warm enough, though!

Lastly, this Harvested Honey coat from Anthro has a vintage look that is quite timeless. It's certainly up there in cost at $498, but one can dream, right?

Happy shopping, chic ones! We need to cheer on those football boys. Nothing will brighten up their season like a full student section filled with black and gold!

You are My Fave ... Because You Make our Job Easy!

Have you ever read You are My Fave? It's a really darling blog out of Denver, Colorado. It's fresh and fun. And this week, she is displaying her love for mustard yellow -- which is so close to old gold that we also would like to declare the color mustard yellow as one of our faves.

Head on over to check out her post on the color. It's a rainy day here on campus, so stay inside, curl up in your cozy clothes and read some of what she's got to offer! Happy rain day, chic ones!

Thursday's at Rebecca & Co.

Nothing brightens a rainy day like a trip to a bright pink gas station. If you haven't visited Rebecca & Co. yet, you MUST take a trip over to see what they've got in stock. In what used to be a gas station, it is now a beautiful boutique with plenty of black and gold waiting for the women of Wake Forest.

Today, they've got a special item for us. For the next week, this gorgeous Ella Moss gold sequin shrug will be on sale for Chic Deac readers only! We'd love to see this paired with leggings and some cute boots, but it is so versatile that it could really go with anything! Just over $100 with the discount, it's available until next Thursday's deal comes out!

Maggy London Chic Dress

This dress is sooooo pretty. It's different in style and cut than most of the things available out there right now. We  love drockets (dress pockets for those of you who are fashion novices) and think the beaded collar is just gorgeous. It highlights the collarbone and draws attention to the face.

Plus, it's from Maggy London who really does make things that look amazing on all types of body shapes. It's on sale from Lord & Taylor right now for under $130! Happy shopping, chic ones!

Mustard Tweed Purse

Enjoy this mustard yellow tweed purse with an emphatic bow and pleating. It's the perfect accent to that black fall outfit and would be a lovely accessory for this weekend's cold game against Boston College.

This find courtesy of You Are My Fave.

A Little Glitz and Glamour

We're loving this shimmery golden dress from Madewell (a J.Crew affiliate company, in case you didn't know). Paired with tights and a cute belt to cinch the waist, we think this is a great look for a nice dinner out. If you put it with the right sweater or jacket and some flats, you could even rock this look in class.
