Kate & Jackie

International Business Times wants to know if Kate Middleton is the new Jackie. We think there's potential, but we hope William has the sense to be more faithful than JFK. Let's check out the evidence:

The rings seem to be a great starting point as both are anchored by colorful gemstones - not just a traditional clear diamond. Bold, yet still classic.

Lace was the most important ingredient of their wedding look and each chose to highlight the tiniest part of their bodies with a nipped bodice. Plus their veils blew in the wind emphasizing their already unarguable perfection. Sigh.

Both women know the power of a great trench coat.

They also know the strength of the skirt and blazer combo, but we do prefer Jackie's flats to Kate's suede boots.

Kate and Jackie are each aware of the rules of style when it comes to engaging with world leaders. Wear chic, well-fitted, neutral colors and you shall always impress. They've even got the same freaking pose.

Red is a stunning color on most women, and these two certainly know how to wear it.

And both know how to pull of a chic hat!

Jackie O still conquers. If you're a regular reader, you know that Jackie is the ultimate style icon in our book. However, Kate has a very impressive roster of looks for such a young age. We look forward to seeing what she can do to change out the No. 1 spot on our list of style icons.

Anthro Sale

We like to follow companies on Facebook and Twitter as opposed to getting ten emails every day from various people that junk up our inbox. This way, all of our sale info is nicely condensed in our feeds and we can pick and choose. Today, we picked Anthropologie's sale update as the source of our daily "will we spend money we don't have" internal debate. We may just spend it for these cute finds - a striped top and summery golden scarf

By the way, chic ones, are you our friend on Facebook or following us on Twitter?

Bows Galore

Chic Deac loves a good bow - there's nothing more endearing and whimsical in our opinion - but sometimes it's hard to rock a bow and look your age. You want to wear it without looking like you did when you were eight. We put together a fun Pinterest board over the past few weeks with some of our favorite mature ways to incorporate bows in your style. Some of our favorites are below and you can check out the whole board here.

We're Baaaaacccck!

Chic ones, we took a sweet hiatus from blogging to enjoy the summer sun, but we couldn't stay away for too long. Especially when we saw this yellow and gray color scheme on Apartment Therapy. This is some nice dorm room decor inspiration, right? Don't worry, we'll be back to our regular blogging routine for most of the summer!

DIY Bulletin Board Ideas

Bulletin boards are a necessity to warm up your dorm room walls, but some companies (cough, Pottery Barn, cough) charge an arm and a leg for them. We think of bulletin boards as a great DIY project. Don't be afraid to try and make some of the things you see below. Most of the supplies are very cheap, so you won't be in too deep if you mess up a certain portion of the project.

The Clothespin Wire Idea from I Steal Good Ideas

Chic Deac Dorm Room

Filigree Leaf Sheets from Anthro will give your dorm room that bright and cheery feeling you need to warm up the space, which will feel like a blank canvas when you first walk in.

PB Teen Customized Makeup Organizer will be a cute way to keep all of your makeup and toiletries organized, which prevents it from looking like an assortment of junk when that cute boy in your bio class comes over to study.

Classic Makeup Sectionals

This monogrammed bulletin board will fit right in at Wake Forest. The Pottery Barn one shown below is on sale for $74, but remember that bulletin boards and memo boards are also a very easy DIY project. Stay tuned for a post in the very near future!

Meringue Dress

Perfectly summery and retro, Anthropologie's Meyer Meringue dress feels like a throwback well worth wearing today. Plus, it has pockets. We love how the Anthro stylist paired it with some royal blue sandals - the color combo is eye popping. However, don't try that combo the week we play Duke.

French Summer Stripes

It's really starting to warm up out there, so we found a cool and casual look for you to rock this summer. We were in the mood for stripes because we'd like to be cooling off in the South of France, but we're sitting in America. Sigh. Anyways, we hope this dress makes your summer day feel cooler. The entire look is just about $50!

Gaga for Graphics

We've been slightly obsessed with graphic posters as of late and the plethora to sort through on Pinterest have just left us wanting more. We've found a bunch that would be a perfect accent for your Wake inspired dorm room this fall:

We've Reached the Big 3-0-0

Dear Chic Ones,

Thanks for reading frequently enough to keep us inspired to reach the big 300 post milestone. 300 may not actually be a milestone, but we feel like maybe it means we've moved on from our amateur stage. We're continually surprised by how many of you are reading up on fashionable finds for the Wake Forest fan - sometimes multiple times per day (you know who you are and you should also know we love you for it).

It has been a long year for Wake Forest sports, and therefore Wake Forest spirit. We're hopeful that the future looks brighter. By hopeful, we sort of mean that it couldn't possibly get worse. We knocked on wood after typing that last sentence, because the hits have certainly kept on coming.

We're certainly not done posting and look forward to a much more spirited (and winning) year ahead. This has been an incredible amount of fun for us and that's largely because you keep coming back to see what we have to share. We've been so lucky to have you and hope you've felt slightly luckier to have our blog in your life too!

xoxo,
Chic Deac

Wanna Feel Old?

BuzzFeed compiled an incredible (and sad) list of things that will make you feel old. Like the fact that this year's freshmen were born in 1993. Yikes. Here are some of our favorites:

Kids These Days Will Have No Idea What Rewinding Is

The Macarena is 16 Years Old

This one is supposed to be sad because it was taken in 1990. We are more saddened by the fact that Cameron Diaz apparently has access to the fountain of youth and has yet to share its secret location with the rest of us.

Khaki Chic

We've finally got our invite for Pinterest, and following in the footsteps of Style of a 20-Something, we'll shortly be sharing our creative boards with you. It's safe to say that this is a bona fide addiction. Anyways, we've found some great pieces from the various people we're following over there and combined them into one chic summer look.

The Initial Touch

In case you have not yet caught on to this fact, Wake Forest gals love a good monogram. I mean they really love a good monogram - on bath towels, on bedspreads, on tote bags, on jewelry, on pencil cases, and even on jeans. Yes, jeans. Chic Deac has seen a girl on campus who actually takes the time to bring jeans to a shop and put a monogram on the back pockets. We do not endorse monogramming everything in your life and certainly not jeans, in case that girl is one of our readers. There is such a thing as too much monogramming. However, we would like to officially endorse using your initials to add a warm touch to your dorm room this fall. Check out some of the ideas we found:

Apparently ...

The Deacon makes guest appearances at weddings. After blogging about people wearing black and gold for nearly a year now in a pretty dedicated fashion (minus exam periods which simply do not count) we would hope that he appears at ours too. We think he owes us.

Summer Cocktails

We are loving this Indah one shoulder ruffle dress and trying to think of something we need to wear it to this summer. Paired with gold accessories and a decent tan, this would be a stunning summer cocktail look!
