President's Ball

In case you haven't checked your news feed in the last twelve hours, you might be missing out on the PR blitz from the President's Ball planning committee. We have to hand it to them, this commercial is genius.

And in case you chic freshmen and sophomores were wondering what the heck to wear to Pres Ball, don't fret. We will have plenty of style guides coming out next week about what to wear.

Zara Chic

Isn't the Zara Tulip Dress perfect for your next date function or semiformal? We love the subtle gold fabric and shape of the neckline - it will perfectly show off your shoulders.

Can we please please please start a Chic petition to get a Zara within a 250 mile radius of Wake Forest? Or start a mail order system with all of the abroad girls?

To Wear or Not To Wear

That is often the question when it comes to current trends. There will always be certain fashion staples, but then there are trendier items which beg the question: can I pull this off? We're always keeping an eye on the latest trends, but sometimes are hesitant to try new and crazy things. Our fear comes down to two main reasons: a) we don't want to look like an idiot now if it fits poorly and b) we don't want to look like an idiot in twenty years when we look back at pictures of a hideous fashion choice.

All this to say, that we've been considering wide leg jeans recently. They're trendy right now, but also have some great classic references like Farah Fawcett (that hair really is incredible).

So we've been looking for a pair that has the right fit and admitted that they may need some tailoring - Stacy and Clinton would be so proud, right? This 7 for All Mankind pair has a great dark wash and aren't obnoxiously wide at the end of the leg. We love the side shot:

What are the trends you're contemplating trying, chic ones?

Who knew tweed could look so hipster when paired with the appropriate slouchy tee and bold rimmed glasses?

Staying Chic in the Rain

Okay, so we know that this gal looks impossibly chic in her trench coat because she has this cool laid back (but probably took an hour) top bun, stunning heels and a sunny day. Meanwhile, we are working with a steady rainfall, humidity and puddles the size of the Crowne pools. However, trenches can still be a great style statement on a rainy day like today. Think about grabbing one if you haven't already done so - they can really spiff up those rain boots you're walking around in. We've always dreamed of a Burberry trench, but if you can't afford one, how about this alternative from Target? Still stylish, but only about $1350 cheaper.

Leopard, Pumps and Boots, Oh My!

Perhaps it's the change in temperature that has craving leopard print, boots and some suede fall shoes. Perhaps it's the fact that it's parents weekend that has us craving expensive shoes. Alas, here are some of our faves from the Fall 2011 Tory Burch collection. They just look so cozy, warm and chic all at the same time! Find them on Tory Burch's website

P.S. - Don't forget to snap some pictures for the tailgate contest tomorrow! You can still look fab in chilly weather, chic ones. We were very impressed with last week's turnout in the contest and look forward to getting more entries!

Thanks to Jill Nagle for this great shot of black and gold before loading up on the shuttle.

Laura Jurotich sent in this cute shot of girls in black with awesome gold accessories - including black and gold nailpolish. WE LOVE IT!

And lastly:
We have to pick Jordan Fashimpaur as our winner for this week's contest. We just LOVE the wide assortment of black and gold in this picture, not to mention the scenic background. Jordan, expect for Chic Deac to be in touch about your t-shirt prize. You will also be one of seven entered to win the fall prize of a YT Clothing dress.

Keep up the good work! Tweet your pictures to us @chicdeacstyle, send them via Facebook message or email (chicdeacstyle@gmail.com).

Stay in Touch on the Go

Just a friendly reminder that Chic Deac is on Facebook and Twitter. So friend and follow us!
And yes, we did find black and gold versions of the Facebook and Twitter icons so that we could avoid posting anything in the Carolina Blue or Duke Blue Devils color scheme.

Sideline Style: Yours Truly Clothing

Chic ones, we are very excited to announce a new partnership with Yours Truly Clothing (YT Clothing) for this upcoming fall semester. Yours Truly is a brand new clothing line which is built around the idea that you can show school spirit, while still looking cute. Their beautiful dresses are great game day basics. They disguise sweat stains (Thank God someone thought of this) and are meant to be accessorized in a variety of ways. We've heard from several dress testers that the product is FABULOUS and we can't wait to get our hands on one.

Lindsay DressBlack

The best part that we haven't yet mentioned, is that the founder of YT has a very special Wake Forest connection. Jennifer Skinner and Katie Skinner Farrar are the mother and sister of Wake Forest alum and standout quarterback Riley Skinner. Wake Forest is near and dear to their hearts as they watched their son/brother lead us to winning an ACC Championship and the Orange Bowl.

We expect to see these lovely women on campus in the coming months and hope that you will support their beautiful line. We are going to give one of our lucky readers a dress at the end of this season. How can you win? By sending in pictures of you and your girlfriends dressed in black and gold. Each week, we'll select a winner for the best dressed Deac. At the end of the season, Jenifer will help Chic Deac select their favorite look. That person will win a beautiful YT Clothing dress!

For Gray Days

We highly recommend bright, yellow rain boots. You can show school spirit and brighten up an otherwise gloomy day. Here are some Hunters and some other (less expensive, but still very cute) options if you are interested:

Calligraphy Skirt

This kind of weather begs for two things: pumpkin spice lattes and online shopping. Mother Nature and Starbucks must have collaborated on today's date being the debut of the PSL and yucky, chillier weather. Plus, we found this gem of a skirt while we were online shopping. If there was ever such a thing as the most perfect Wake Forest skirt ... this is it, ladies and gentlemen. Leave it to Anthro, right? It's $118, but tell me you wouldn't wear this all the time in the fall. For the rest of your life. This is an investment, people. We see this with a cozy, lightweight black cardigan and some great boots. Go ahead and buy it. You know you want to!

Football Flop?

Wake Forest Syracuse Football

Talk on campus this morning about last night's game has Chic Deac slightly concerned. There were way too many Facebook statuses lamenting the start of what many seem to think will be another terrible season. We recognize that the fourth quarter was a disaster, but we saw incredible improvement from last year. It would be good of us Wake Forest fans to show appreciation for the growth we saw in our players. Tanner Price was SO much better last night and we can only hope his knee injury heals quickly. Keep supporting the Deacs and our team will keep up the good work!

College Colors Day

An avid reader just informed us that tomorrow is National College Colors Day. How on earth did we miss this?? This is practically like Christmas for Chic Deac. We hope to see all of campus covered in shades of black and gold tomorrow. Wear a tee or a cute dress like one of the ones below, just make sure to wear your college colors. Then perhaps celebrate by attending the soccer game against Louisville taking place tomorrow night at 8pm in Spry Stadium.

This dress would be great for the class to soccer game transition. Just add sandals and a jean jacket to keep you warm once the sun goes down on the hill.

GO DEACS!

Just in case you forgot the lyrics over the summer and want to practice for next week's home game, you can play this during commercials of the Syracuse game tonight. From my understanding, if you have Time Warner Cable off campus you can watch tonight's game on channel 519. If you live on campus, you'll have to watch it on ESPN3.com. Either way, you should watch our team take on the Syracuse Orangemen in our season opener. Thanks to the unnamed male friend who filled us in on this info. Guys always know that kind of stuff.

GO DEACS! This will be us next week before we face State:
