- Congratulations! Enjoy this exciting time and make the most of this process. You have a great opportunity to make new friends and discover what it means to be a part of an incredible sisterhood.
- Today you get to sport Greek letters and colors for the first time. This is exciting. But remember that black and gold are the most important colors on our campus. You're a Demon Deacon before a _____ (KD, ADPi, KBG, Chi O, Tri Delt, Phi Mu, DZ or KKG).
- The best way to represent your group is by staying classy. Whether you are wearing your letters or not, you are going to be associated with your group for the next 3.5 years.
- Don't do anything you don't want to do. A true sister welcomes you and makes you feel comfortable, not pressured!
- Lastly, remember to be sensitive to the girls who wanted to be a in a sorority but aren't this semester. They are going to have some tough moments and need to know that you are still a good friend and/or roomie.
To girls who didn't participate in Recruitment or dropped or didn't get a bid:
- Take your time to feel hurt and angry. Everyone needs time to heal, so let the tears flow if you feel them coming.
- You can develop just as many connections and deep female friendships, but there might be moments where that seems more difficult. Remember that you need to take initiative and be really intentional about maintaining friendships.
- Be patient with the girls who are participating in sorority life this semester. They are excited about this new opportunity, so don't forget to congratulate them.
- Don't sulk for too long. This is a great semester to get involved. Think about how you see yourself on campus and talk to the people in those positions. Love Student Union events? Talk to their president. Really miss your high school field hockey team? Join the Club Team. Want to write? Contact The Student, Her Campus or The Old Gold & Black.
- Your spring is going to be packed with fun events - like Shag on the Mag, Seize the Quad and more. You have plenty to look forward to, so keep your chin up and walk proudly across the Quad.
- And if you've decided that independent life isn't for you, check out Fall Recruitment opportunities!
