DIY Bulletin Board Ideas

Bulletin boards are a necessity to warm up your dorm room walls, but some companies (cough, Pottery Barn, cough) charge an arm and a leg for them. We think of bulletin boards as a great DIY project. Don't be afraid to try and make some of the things you see below. Most of the supplies are very cheap, so you won't be in too deep if you mess up a certain portion of the project.

Chic Deac Dorm Room

Filigree Leaf Sheets from Anthro will give your dorm room that bright and cheery feeling you need to warm up the space, which will feel like a blank canvas when you first walk in.

PB Teen Customized Makeup Organizer will be a cute way to keep all of your makeup and toiletries organized, which prevents it from looking like an assortment of junk when that cute boy in your bio class comes over to study.

Classic Makeup Sectionals

This monogrammed bulletin board will fit right in at Wake Forest. The Pottery Barn one shown below is on sale for $74, but remember that bulletin boards and memo boards are also a very easy DIY project. Stay tuned for a post in the very near future!

Gaga for Graphics

We've been slightly obsessed with graphic posters as of late and the plethora to sort through on Pinterest have just left us wanting more. We've found a bunch that would be a perfect accent for your Wake inspired dorm room this fall:

More Warm Accents for Your Dorm Room

Everyone will have a floor length mirror that they bought from Target or Bed Bath & Beyond, but why not add a warm touch to your room with this gold oval mirror from IKEA? It's a classic piece that you'll be able to find a home for in the years to come.

Invest in some Scotch 3M wall hooks and make it the nice silver ones. The white plastic work well, but they don't do much in terms of warming up your space. If you have the time (and it's only May right now, so you DEFINITELY have the time) take 10 minutes to sand the hook and spray paint them gold. This will make your hooks unique from everyone else on the hall.

Wondering what you are going to hang on those hooks? How about a monogrammed waffle robe like this one from Bed Bath & Beyond. Trust me, a robe is a great investment for the college years - along with shower shoes, but we'll get to those later.

Chic Dorm Room

We know packing for college can be incredibly stressful, but it can also be super fun to plan out your chic room. All summer long, we'll be posting dorm room style suggestions and ideas. Note that when decorating your room, it's all about cheery colors and warm accents. This will make your room everyone's favorite place on the hall. Don't go to lax on the accessories, or else it will feel bare. And if you overdo it, your place will be too stuffy for hanging out and watching Glee.

For Dad

Dad is easy to please. He's not high maintenance and anything related to Wake Forest will make him happy (because he went here or just because you go here, either way).

We like this logo tie because it's got the WF logo without being overwhelming - subtle and classy, just like your dad.

If there is any one item that defines the style of a dad - it's got to be a vest. Who wears vests besides Dads? Check out this Cutter & Buck one from the Deacon Shop.

If your Dad is a historian - give him the recently published History of Wake Forest University: Vol. V as a Christmas gift. He'll love to read more about the background on this great institution. Plus, it's written by Provost Emeritus Ed Wilson (yes, the guy who Shorty's named the Mr. Wake Forest burger after) so he's bound to love it! Check it out here.

A simple WF logo belt, like this one, is always a good idea for Dad. He'll love wearing it to games throughout the year.
If Dad is looking for something cool for his office, maybe you should consider getting him a replica Wake Forest football helmet. This will be a conversation piece and another opportunity for him to bring you up to all of his visitors! Check it out here

Or perhaps you could get him one of these awesome panoramic shots of BB&T field or the Joel. Pick his favorite sport, or if you're feeling generous, get both!
