J.Crew Jacquard

Holiday parties are just around the corner. Christmas Cocktail or New Year's Eve anyone? Try this J.Crew Jacquard dress on for size. It's a classic shape with a sparkly twist. We love the skinny belt around the waist. Check it out here on the J.Crew website.

Who knew tweed could look so hipster when paired with the appropriate slouchy tee and bold rimmed glasses?

Posties 2K11

North Myrtle, here we come! The forecast doesn't say super great things about the weather for this weekend and the few days afterwards (high 70s and thunderstorms, ugh) but we are excited to get some time in at the beach even if we are in a sweatshirt or rain jacket. Just in case we do get a warm moment at the beach, we're hoping we can wear this new J.Crew cover up:

Beachcomber tunic

The evenings are looking a little bit chillier than we'd like, but Pirate's Cove gets so sweaty that we won't notice a thing until we're standing in line at Hot Diggity Dog.

For the Man in Your Life

So we've been getting e-mails trickling in over the past few weeks about featuring menswear items. This has dumbfounded us a bit because we were (a) surprised that men read fashion blogs, (b) flattered that they cared about what they wore and (c) not sure what exactly to post about. This entire week will focus on menswear. On Wednesday, our item of the week will be for men and we're asking men to submit their best WFU pictures.

So to start the week off right, we wanted to pick one of our very favorite looks for men. This style is perfect as we're about to enter into some crisper fall days and you guys will need a great transition outfit. The basics are a yellow polo and jeans. It's simple, and it should be a staple in the closet of every Wake Forest male. Pick up the polo at Ralph Lauren and these jeans are from Gap.

Add a Wake Forest belt for an extra dash of school spirit. For $20, you could wear this belt over and over again to WFU sporting events.

This last item is really key to the look. Chic Deac has a theory that every man on the planet looks instantly more attractive if he wears a half-zip pullover. We're not sure what it is about this look that does us in, but ohhh man. Check out this basic black one from J.Crew and then wear it in front of the girl you like. Results are basically guaranteed.

Let's Hear it for the Boys

Chic Deac has been focusing a lot on the ladies recently (with the exception of our croakies post, which can be found here) and we wanted to give the guys an idea of what to wear when September 2nd rolls around. Guys' outfits are much more basic and easier to find, but there is still an opportunity to be stylish.

Let's start with the very basic item: the shirt. As long as it's black and gold, you really can't go wrong. The first shirt is for the preppier crowd - a yellow oxford from Ralph Lauren. It's on sale for $60 on the website, but if you visit your nearest Polo Outlet, I bet you can find it for around $40. These shirts last forever. You can dress them up with a sport coat, or wear them to class with your Rainbows.

The next shirt is a Cutter & Buck black polo from the Deacon Shop. The website is selling them for $50, but some Chic Deac Spies said they are on sale right now at Hanes Mall. Remember, a black polo could get very hot in the September sun. This would be great for the first game (oh, evening tailgates, I love you) or some of the chillier October/November games.

Another option (and really my favorite) is just a plain ol' Wake Forest t-shirt. It's the comfiest option and you can make it look as preppy or understated as you want. The Deacon Shop has this basic tee on sale for $10.

Now, khaki shorts are always a good option. But, if you want to really show off that tan you worked so hard for this summer, I recommend these white club shorts from J.Crew. They are on sale for $40. White is crisp and fresh - it will make your look stand out a bit from the sea of khaki shorts.

Now on to your accessories. Let's talk about sunglasses first. There are two types of people in this world: those who lose and break their sunglasses constantly, and those who manage to hold onto a pair for a long time. I am the first type of person, so I can't let myself invest in a pair of sunglasses. It will just be that much more painful when they go. If you are one of those people who manage to hold on to them, then I have a great investment piece for you. These Ray-Ban Wayfarers are being sold for $119. I love the tortoise shell look and anyone who was at a Wake Forest tailgate last year can tell you that Wayfarers were all the rage.Obviously, a basic baseball cap is a good find. It keeps the sun out of your eyes and prevents some ugly sunburn from forming on those hot September afternoons. Check out this Wake Forest Football hat from the Deacon Shop. For $16, this will last you a while.

Your last accessory is an easy and cheap find. Get a Wake Forest koozie! No one needs to see a red cup when we are playing Stanford or NC State. Koozies are all over campus. Last year, Student Government, Student Union and the 1834 campaign were giving away koozies left and right. Check out the Student Activities Fair or look at the bookstore. Here is a pack of two being sold on Ebay for $8.

Now you're set to tailgate and cheer on Mother, So Dear!
