DIY Lacy Gold Chain Necklace

Good news, y'all: Chic Deac is alive and well. Just had to take a mental break from posting while taking an actual break from Wake Forest. But we are back!

The first day of class is here and we're already looking for a craft project that will distract us from the mounds of homework that will surely pile up over the next few weeks. We found this adorable DIY lacy gold chain necklace on Pinterest and we are eager to try and replicate it. Who doesn't need a fabulous statement necklace on a budget?

You can find the instructions here

P.S. - Are you following Chic Deac on Pinterest? How about Twitter and Facebook?

French Summer Stripes

It's really starting to warm up out there, so we found a cool and casual look for you to rock this summer. We were in the mood for stripes because we'd like to be cooling off in the South of France, but we're sitting in America. Sigh. Anyways, we hope this dress makes your summer day feel cooler. The entire look is just about $50!

A Little Luck for '11

The Class of 2011 graduated this morning and we can't help but feel sad at the thought that they're leaving Wake Forest. We hope they do amazing things in the world and that they always proudly claim Mother, So Dear as their alma mater. We wish them luck in all that they do - so a little horseshoe necklace in honor of their new post-grad experiences.

Graduation Gift Ideas

Parents, family and friends of Class of 2011 grads - check out some of Chic Deac's gift ideas for graduation. Graduation is such a bittersweet time, but you can make it all the sweeter with some great gifts that will help the new alums keep Wake Forest in their hearts forever.

Demon and Deacon wine from the Reynolda Village Deacon Shop would be an excellent choice. We once saw someone write a personalized note on a wine bottle in metallic paint pen. This makes the bottle a keepsake in itself and a great accessory (or vase) for a post-grad apartment.

This monogrammed Max & Chloe necklace won't break the bank, but it will be appreciated as a classic gift. Get it in 14k gold to remind them of Mother, So Dear.

West Avenue Jewelry Monogram Disk Necklace

A classic tote is a great gift for any woman entering the working world, but why not have a Wake Forest twist with black and gold hues? We love the dipped leather look on this tote and think that it's a worthy investment. A Tory Burch tote will surely last your grad a while, or at least until they have a bigger paycheck to buy their own replacement.

Everyone has to write thank you notes when they receive gifts, and what better to write it on that customized Lilly stationary?

Say it in Code

We LOVE this necklace design, featured on Cup of Jo this week and sent in by a fabulous reader. These Morse Code Necklaces from the First Date Boutique are adorable. Spelling out words like love, amore, friend and sister, they make the perfect gift for a friend, mom or sorority sister. Mother's Day gift, anyone?? Buy them here.

Day 1

Ladies, you know what we're talking about. Casual, yet polished and chic, is the name of the game today. Some suggestions in case you're doubting the look you planned over break:

Forever 21's silk drawstring top with a statement necklace will help you make a statement during what's bound to be a long day.

Or if you want to go for a classic black look, check out this applique bib top from the Gap.

For shoes? Stay cozy in some cute flats or boots. Blisters will ruin your week!

Thursday's at Rebecca & Co.

We mentioned earlier in the week that we have an exciting new weekly feature to go along with our Mondays at Monkee's series and here it is! Rebecca & Co., an adorable boutique on Reynolda Road, is teaming up with Chic Deac to bring you stylish black and gold options. One of the items they feature will be 20% off for the week following the original post.

Here is our first look from Rebecca & Co. We love this Michael Stars Relaxed Dolman shirt in black with skinny jeans for a dinner out or night on the town. This item is 20% off this week, originally priced at $54. Just say Chic Deac at the register to get your discount. The necklace in the picture is not on sale, but is a perfect way to add a Wake Forest touch to your look. At only $24, go for it!

Secondly, the lovely ladies of Rebecca & Co. were nice enough to send this sale tip into us. This dress, a Mark & James by Badgley Mishcka design, is on sale for 60% off - bringing the price down to $142. There is only ONE DRESS LEFT - it's a size two. Stop by and pick it up today!

Happy shopping, chic ones!

Jewelry Galore

First off - Chic Deac spotted a countless number of cute (and spirited) outfits at the tailgate last night. It was so fun watching our Deacs pummel the Blue Hose and we hope you stayed til the end! Please send us pictures of your tailgate outfits. The "cutest" outfit as voted by our readers will win a big prize next week, so send us your pictures! The e-mail address is chicdeacstyle@gmail.com.

Now onto the day's post, we have been finding lots of chic jewelry lately and wanted to do a post with a bunch of these pieces. We can start with the ears and work our way down! These earrings, from FredFlare.com, are a perfect accent to any Wake Forest outfit. The description is very accurate - these classic earrings can go with anything in your wardrobe and for just $10, they are well worth the money!

Secondly, we love love love this necklace being sold on Etsy. It's apparently modeled after an orchid leaf, but we'd much prefer to pretend it's a magnolia blossom. Then it would be the PERFECT piece of Wake Forest jewelry. Check it out here for just $23.

Lastly, this ring is a very cute addition to any outfit. Also from FredFlare.com, it's only $18.

Have a great weekend, and remember to SEND US YOUR TAILGATE PICTURES!

If Jackie O Were a Chic Deac (Pt. 2)

The Chic Deac obsession with Jackie O is kind of intense, so please be prepared for the constant oohs and ahhs over her style. The Jewelry Box has decided to recreate her most famous pieces of jewelry (with less expensive materials) in a new line and it has made me so happy to know that this exists.

The first piece is based on an early 19th century French brooch that was passed down through the Bouvier family. Eventually it was made into a necklace, and Jackie had earrings made to match in 1960. Look at this piece here for $149.

Next, we adore this bracelet that JFK gave to Jackie O. This would be perfect with a basic black shift and some heels. It's being sold for $139 here.

Lastly, we want this watch so badly. It's got a classic look, but it's especially perfect for any Wake Forest fan. The tank watch was never well known until Jackie bought one in 1964 and made the style famous, so follow in a great woman's footsteps and get it here for $129.

And of course, Jackie O would have had a pair of these earrings if Wake Forest alum and Etsy seller pendredkeller28 had been making them back then. Win them for free - check out this post to see how!

Cheap Chic Friday!

Obviously, fashion is tons of fun, but it's no fun if we can't afford to wear stylish clothes. Every Friday morning we will post an incredible outfit that we found for under $30.00.

Today we're kicking off the series with a beautiful black dress and gold statement necklace. The dress, from Forever21, has a great structure to it. I adore the buttons down the front and think the sweetheart top is perfect. What's most beautiful about this dress? The price. This versatile piece is being sold for $12.50 on their website. Check it out here.
The necklace is also from Forever21. The simple silhouette of the black dress will be well-accented with this bold heart pendant. The cutout pattern makes the piece much more eye-catching and it's only $5.80.
Lastly, let's tie together the piece with a beautiful pair of Sandals from Target (Special Note: On Cheap Chic Fridays, we especially pronounce that store in the snooty Tar-jay way). These sandals are on sale for $9.08, but look like they cost a pretty penny.

Today's Cheap Chic total? $27.38. Not bad for such a stylish look!
